Officer indicted on oppression charges resigns
A Travis County grand jury has indicted an Austin police officer on official oppression charges after officials said he subjected two women to searches “that he knew (were) unlawful.”
Officer Joshua James Peters faces up to a year in jail if convicted on the Class A misdemeanor charge.
A two-page indictment does not give specifics of the case.
Peters has resigned from the department, officials said.
